Conference Summary
Since 2009, this bi-annual FASEB Science Research Conference (SRC) has alternated between the U.S. and Europe. It brings together experts from the fields of sirtuins, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerases (PARPs), calcium signaling, transcription, mitosis, immunology, and cancer with those specializing in drugs and nutritional interventions that interface with the fundamental and translational science of NAD+. It is the only scientific meeting that cuts across all these areas.
Understanding the whole NAD+ metabolome and NAD+-regulated proteome, as well as their regulatory mechanisms, is necessary to fully integrate individual research discoveries. This conference represents all major areas of NAD+ metabolism and signaling research, from molecular and chemical biology to specific areas of physiology and disease. It will promote the improvement of human health by investigating NAD+ metabolism and signaling in model organisms and humans. Finally, it will help train the next generation of investigators to advance NAD+ discovery sciences.
Themes of the conference include: 1) Explore the role of NAD+ in physiological aging, neurodegenerative diseases of aging, calcium signaling, and metabolic regulation; 2) Examine emerging research on NAD+ and its role in the biology of Sirtuins and PARPs in aging, inflammation, and metabolic regulation; 3) Explore the scope of NAD+ metabolites (NR and NMN) in the clinic.
Conference sessions will present the latest research findings and bring together groups of researchers who do not typically interact outside their respective sub-fields. New and exciting ideas are likely to emerge from such diverse, but ultimately unifying topics:
- NAD+ in physiological aging and metabolic regulation
- Sirtuins in aging and metabolic regulation
- PARPs in aging, cancer, and metabolic regulation
- NAD+ and neurodegenerative diseases of aging
- NAD+-dependent calcium signaling in aging and metabolism
- PARPs and NAD+ in inflammation related to cancer and disease
- NAD+ metabolites (NR and NMN) in the clinic
The conference will feature 37 invited talks, 25 short talks selected from submitted abstracts, two poster sessions, and a "Meet the Experts Panel" hosted by the organizers, which will focus on career development and planning for the future of the field.
For consideration for a selected oral presentation, please submit your abstract by June 1, 2019.
