Conference Summary

Launched in the early 1990s, this FASEB Science Research Conference (SRC) has focused on a range of themes that explore how the many factors of intestinal biology – diet, bile, mucus, enteroendocrine, smooth muscle, and microbiota – work together in both normal and disease physiology. These factors all impact lipid metabolism but are extremely difficult, if not impossible, to model ex vivo. This year’s conference will highlight breakthroughs in developing sophisticated strategies to explore the systemic effects of bile acids, gut hormones, and the gut microbiome.

This conference brings together an interdisciplinary group of academic and industry scientists who come from an array of life science subdisciplines, including lipid chemistry, cell biology, microbiology, physiology, and medicine related to the intestinal lipid metabolism.
