Program

The three main themes of this meeting are: 1) Elucidating the structure and regulation of protein phosphatases; 2) Understanding the roles of protein phosphatases in cancer and other human diseases; 3) Assessing druggability of phosphatases and validating them as therapeutic targets.

The conference will highlight the latest research and foster discussion on the following topics:

  • Regulation and structure of protein phosphatases
  • Identification of protein phosphatase substrates
  • Systems biology approaches to protein phosphatases in cell signaling
  • Roles of protein phosphatases in cancer
  • Roles of protein phosphatases in lung, blood, and heart physiology and pathology
  • Roles of protein phosphatases in neurobiology and neuropathology
  • Roles of protein phosphatases in skeletal and matrix biology and pathology
  • Roles of protein phosphatases in metabolism
  • Roles of protein phosphatases in immunity
  • Discovery of inhibitors and activators of protein phosphatases

This conference will feature eight oral sessions, two poster sessions, two career development workshops – "Entrepreneurship" and "A Career in industry" – two speed-networking sessions that will  allow attendees to meet with most invited speakers and session chairs, and a closing keynote lecture delivered by Markus Müschen, MD, PhD (Howard Hughes Medical Institute and City of Hope, Duarte, California).
