Conference Summary

For the past 20 years, this unique FASEB Science Research Conference (SRC) has been bringing together the global plant developmental biology community.

This small conference fosters interactions between early stage researchers and established PIs, and serves as a catalyst for long-lasting collaborations and career-building interactions.

Major themes of the conference include: 1) The role of hormones and mechanical signals in organizing the plant body plan; 2) The molecular mechanisms that lead to asymmetry at the cell and organ level; 3) The pathways that mediate cellular specialization.

Conference topics will include:

  • Tissue Patterning
  • Developmental Plasticity
  • Cellular Response to Environment
  • Mechanisms in Cell Polarity
  • Cellular Specialization
  • Establishing and Elaborating Body Plan
  • Signaling and Crosstalk
  • Mediating Indeterminate Growth
  • Cell-Cell Communication

The keynote address will be from EMBO member Dr. Professor Jane Langdale (The Queen’s College, University of Oxford, UK). Eight further sessions will include invited speakers, short talks selected from abstract submissions, and flash talks from poster presenters representing the breadth of the plant development field. There will be three poster sessions and a career development session, "Getting Your Name Out There: Setting a Path in a Plant Science Career."
