Location & Travel

The Westin Snowmass Resort

100 Elbert Lane
Snowmass Village, Colorado 81615, USA

Snowmass Village is located on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains, 200 miles west of Denver. The village has over 25 restaurants and bars, 40 retail shops and many other amenities to guarantee a comfortable and enjoyable stay. In addition, the resort town of Aspen is just 10 miles away, complete with restaurants and shops for you to explore. For more information on activities and attractions in Aspen, visit Aspen Chamber.

Snowmass Village sits a comfortable 8,000 feet above sea level. As many of you are traveling from lower elevations, you may experience mild altitude illness. It is recommended that you limit your exercise, drink plenty of water, avoid tobacco and alcohol, and use the hotel-provided humidifiers. If you develop symptoms lasting more than a few days, please contact your hotel staff member or a FASEB staff member, especially if you require medical assistance.

Throughout the summer, the average high temperature in Colorado is 76°F (24°C) with a low of 46° F (8°C). Casual clothing is suggested. Afternoon showers are common and it may be helpful to bring rain gear.

Group Activity

River Rafting Adventure

This (optional) river rafting activity on the Colorado River boasts excellent Class III whitewater, followed by a stunning and scenic relaxing float within steep majestic canyon walls. These rapids, with names like “Superstition”, “The Wall”, and “Pinball”, create an exhilarating section of unforgettable white water. The first section has Class III rapids and then declines to Class II & I as we focus on the beautiful scenery in the canyon.  Price of the official group activity includes snacks, drinks and tax.

From our river guides at Blazing Adventures:

What Should I Wear?
We recommend that you wear a bathing suit as your base layer. We will provide rafting jackets, pants and a wet suit, if necessary. We have neoprene booties available or you can wear shoes that will stay on your feet and can get wet (flip flops are not appropriate). Bring dry clothes for the ride home.

What Should I Bring?
We suggest the disposable, waterproof type cameras. Pictures will be taken from the shore and will be available for purchase.

Details about this group event and other optional Blazing Adventures activities in the Snowmass/Aspen Area will be announced in an email to conference attendees.
