SRC Cancellation FAQs

March 31, 2020

The health and well-being of our Science Research Conference attendees are important to us. While scientific progress has never been more important, public safety is our highest priority. Due to the rapidly escalating global outbreak of COVID-19, FASEB has canceled the 2020 FASEB Science Research Conference Series. We understand that this unprecedented situation has presented many issues for you. We ask for your patience and support as we work to resolve your questions.  We have compiled the following FAQ to address some of your concerns. Please check back frequently for updates.

Q1. Why were the FASEB SRC in-person meetings canceled?
FASEB has been closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19. Based on the latest guidance from public health officials, the travel bans implemented by different institutions, and the various states of emergency being declared, it became clear to us that canceling was the right course of action.

This action was further confirmed by concerns received from conference registrants, cancellations of similarly sized conferences in the U.S. and globally, and the increased volume of confirmed cases of coronavirus throughout the world.

Q2. Will the conferences be rescheduled or available virtually?
Scientific progress has never been more important, and we are investigating several options to give you the opportunity to share your research to further the life sciences. We will announce a viable solution that will be in the best interests of the conferences soon. Keep checking back for more information.

Q3. Will registration fees be refunded?
Yes; everyone who has registered to attend a conference will receive a full refund by the end of April. Once your registration cancellation is processed, you will receive a confirmation receipt via email. You do not need to contact anyone at FASEB to initiate your refund. We thank you for your registration.

Q4. Will attendees and speakers be refunded for airline tickets or other transportation or hotel and housing expenses?
Attendees and speakers are responsible for cancelling their own personal arrangements they have made, such as travel and housing reservations and any off-site activities reserved individually.

If you registered for a conference located in Nova Scotia where your registration included a hotel reservation, FASEB has canceled your hotel reservation.

Q5. Can I apply my registration fee to a conference in the next cycle?
No, registration fees cannot be applied to future meetings. You will be issued a full refund.

Q6. My organization is a sponsor. What is happening with our sponsorship funds for the conference?
Over the next several weeks, we will decide which options will be best suited for each conference. We will be in communication with you directly as we make our final decisions about the conference you sponsored.
